A little help.

Benji needs two Android permissions to enforce blocking. First, Usage access — so Benji can detect when a blocked app opens (Settings → Apps → Special app access → Usage access → Benji → Allow). Second, Display over other apps — so the blocker overlay can appear on top of whatever you opened (Settings → Apps → Special app access → Display over other apps → Benji → Allow). If both are on and apps still slip through, restart the phone — the background service occasionally needs a kick after an OS update. (iOS isn't out yet; when it is, blocking will use Apple's Family Controls / Screen Time APIs.)

The usual culprit is battery optimization. Exempt Benji: Settings → Apps → Benji → Battery → Unrestricted. If you're on a Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, or Huawei device, also check the OEM's own battery saver (often called 'Apps that won't sleep,' 'Auto-launch,' or similar) — these can kill background services even after you exempt the app from stock Android battery optimization. A few other things worth checking: Benji notifications are turned on, you didn't force-quit the app from Recents, and Do Not Disturb isn't silencing alarms at the time it was set to ring.

From the Home tab, tap the pencil icon next to "Tonight's Routine," scroll to the bottom of "Add to Routine," and tap "Create custom step." Name it, set a duration, save.

Benji is a friendly bear, not a prison. The blocker is intentionally bypassable. If you find yourself bypassing every night, try shortening your routine, moving your bedtime later, or adding apps you actually want blocked rather than ones you "should" block.

Uninstall the app. Everything is stored locally — there's nothing on a server to delete.

Right now Benji is Android-only. iOS is coming soon — most of the remaining work is around hooking cleanly into Apple's Family Controls / Screen Time APIs. Web, watchOS, and tablet versions are on the wish list — write in if you'd find one useful.
